Eyes of the world has always been on my number one spot. EVerything about it is great my top three are...

10/19/74- So good i almost wish id never heard it since it makes everything else seem just not as good.

9/25/91- Just all around good, hornsby on keys really does a great job.

3/29/1990- Branford Marsalis, enough said.

what are your favorites?

MMMMM...Nice Eyes

This is hard donig this because I feel I should be getting out the Deadbase everytime.

Here we go.

Love the first one 2/9/73

Love the second one 2/15/73
6/10/73 Testify!
6/9/76 Yeah baby!
3/29/90 Classic.
7/8/90 I was at that one
12/31/90 Hornsby and Marsalis!

There are a few from '83 and '85 that I admire just because the band is playing it so darn fast and jerry's fingers fly, but I was much happier when the slowed the thing back down to the '73 tempo.

Oh and 10/19/74 How could I forget.

3/29/90 definately gets all the attention for THE branford show, not to mention the fact that some of the songs from this show were added to Without a Net....but i feel 12/31/90 often gets overlooked. The Eyes on that show is absolutely ridiculous and is just as good as 3/29 if not better. Branford is on fire on 12/31.....the bird song on this night also competes with 3/29

How strange ... Eyes is the most recent song from the Dead's catalogue that i have been getting into, exploring different ones in search of the penultimate sound. And so far, ahem, i am really loving the Eyes from RFK 1973-6-10. Love the Row Jimmy from that show as well. Though, however you come at the song, it's quite a good'un. Leave it on!

Does anyone have the box set Beyond Description? My friend once played me the Eyes from there and it was Amazing! Jerry came in on the first solo like a banchee.

Does anyone know where this one is from and where I can find it?

Thanks in advance for the answers

It's in the liner notes, don't know off the top of my head. YEAH! I've heard MANY MANY Eyes and this one has something completely different about it. A lot of Eyes have the same jams in them which is why I never understood why it's regarded as very exploratory. Great song but often pretty limited imo but that version you mentioned definately stands out.

I really like the one from March 31st 1991 at the Boston Garden. I wanna say it wasne of the longest ones thay ever did if not the longest. And not thats its just long ,it's great. They keep coming up with stuff. Jerry and Phil are on.

1974Eyes pretty much rounded most of my top 5. I would add Greensboro 3/91. This is actually filler on the Boston garden Dicks picks. It clocks in at 23 mins I believe and is probably my fav.
